Bin men caught disposing of industrial waste
Tuesday, 07 August 2012
THREE bin men are being investigated after an amateur cameraman captured them disposing of industrial waste in a council rubbish truck.
The video, uploaded on to file sharing website YouTube, apparently shows uniformed Barnet Council workers throwing what appears to be bags of cement, planks of wood and a mattress into a council refuse truck.
Non-council workmen can also be seen helping to load items including large shelving units into the back of the truck as it sat outside a house in Page Street, Mill Hill.
The video’s creator, who gave his name as Roger said he realised something was wrong when he saw the refuse truck parked near his home on Monday July 23 two days before the scheduled Wednesday collection.
He told The Press: “I saw them bringing out planks of wood and strips of metal. They must have gone out half a dozen times refilling those bins. I was gobsmacked that they had the front to do it in broad daylight wearing their council uniform.
“We have all got to recycle and we can’t mix our rubbish or put any of that kind of stuff in our bins. I needed to show the council the hypocrisy of their employees when it comes to private collections of rubbish that should really be sent to a recycling plant.”
A council spokeswoman said: “Having viewed the video we can confirm three members of the council’s refuse team have been identified and a full disciplinary investigation is being carried out.
"This is not what the council would expect from its staff and takes incidents of this kind extremely seriously.”
Businesses normally have to pay a fee for their waste to be collected, charged by weight or bin size.

I’m resident of Mill Hill and cant believe someone is complaining and filming about this kind of issue ! I would be HAPPY that my neighbor is taking care of his surrounding than just leaving whole mess around!! Should complain about issues in our area.. like why we see too much building waste left on streets, dog owners still don’t collect dog poo in middle of walking streets *my area mill hill*
