Police constable sacked for falsifying evidence to avoid parking fine

By Dave Speck in Local People

A Barnet police constable has been sacked for gross misconduct after he falsified evidence in order to avoid a parking fine.

PC Christian Ciobanu was on duty when his vehicle was issued with the penalty charge notice.

But instead of paying it, he falsified documents and made a false entry on a police database to support an application to have it quashed.

PC Ciobanu was investigated by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards and admitted breaching standards of professional behaviour in relation to honesty and integrity.

Following a special case hearing chaired by Met Assistant Commissioner Martin Hewitt, he was dismissed without notice.
